Ashleigh has always maintained a passion for helping those in need and giving back to the local community, which she’s worked to incorporate this desire into every aspect of her life. Ashleigh attended George Mason University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, with a focus in Archaeology. While there, she served as a both secretary and vice president of a student organization and an active volunteer for several charitable organizations such as Make-A-Wish and Habitat for Humanity.

After obtaining her undergraduate degree, Ashleigh decided to pursue a career in law to further serve her local community. She attended The Columbus School of Law, The Catholic University of America. At Catholic, Ashleigh served as an associate member of the Catholic University Law Review, and worked for two years, as both a legal intern and a student attorney, in the Columbus Community Legal Services’ Families and the Law Clinic. Through her work in the clinic, she represented victims of domestic violence in actions before the D.C. Superior Court and United States Citizen and Immigration Services (USCIS) in custody and divorce matters, protective orders, and in immigration proceedings to include filing for and obtaining VAWA’s and U-Visas.

Additionally, Ashleigh served as a volunteer on the District of Columbia’s Domestic Violence Fatality Review Board. In this role she presented monthly reports to the Board, which included members such as the Chief of Police and the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia. Ashleigh also actively worked with many of the District’s domestic violence and immigration coalitions by presenting CLE’s and trainings.

During law school, Ashleigh also interned for the U.S. Probation Office for the District of Columbia, the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), Office of Environmental and Real Property Law, and the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) for both the Legislative and Correctional Issues Branch and the Litigation Branch. At USCG, Ashleigh was instrumental in briefing the organization on the alignment of its policies with the Department of Homeland Security, as well as providing internal comments on agency actions in light of changes to the Administrative Procedure Act. At BOP, Ashleigh was intricately involved in analyzing BOP policies regarding regulations for employees in same sex unions in light of the changes in federal law regarding same sex unions and marriages. All of these experiences expanded her expertise and confidence in her ability to interpret the law and guide the client appropriately.

In 2011 Ashleigh graduated from The Columbus School of Law, The Catholic University of America, magna cum laude. After law school, Ashleigh served as a law clerk to the Honorable Craig D. Johnston in the Circuit Court for the Thirty-First Judicial Circuit working on complex civil and litigation matters. While there, she assisted Judge Johnston in many aspects from briefing capital murder motions to the drafting of a letter opinion published in the Virginia Lawyer’s Weekly regarding a conflict of law issue in a wrongful death case. Ashleigh joined Dougherty Tobias Iszard, Northern Virginia Law, P.C. , PC after her clerkship concluded in August 2012. From 2012 to 2017, with the support of her dynamic team members at Dougherty Tobias Iszard, Northern Virginia Law, P.C. , she dedicated her practice to focus on the intricacies of Family Law. In doing so she worked to secure clients success in complex settlement negotiations, contested litigation, and appeals, both to the Circuit Court as well as the Virginia Court of Appeals. She also served as a Guardian ad Litem for children in abuse and neglect matters and custody and visitation. In 2018, with the merger of Dougherty Tobias Iszard, Northern Virginia Law, P.C. , P.C. and Tobias Law, P.L.L.C., Ashleigh became a partner of the firm Dougherty Tobias Iszard, Northern Virginia Law, P.C. where she continues to focus on complex family law issues, but she has also broadened her practice to include an increased appellate practice and criminal defense.

Ashleigh is currently a member of the Prince William Bar Association, Fairfax Bar Association, the Prince William Chapter of the Northern Virginia Women’s Attorney Association and the Virginia Trial Attorneys Association. She has participated in these associations in various manners, including not limited to volunteering with the Prince William Beat the Odds Program, serving as a member of the Judicial Liaison Committee for the Prince William Bar Association, and volunteering for the Wills on Wheels program with the Fairfax Bar Association.

Ashleigh truly values the opportunity to assist her clients with both legal and practical issues that arise during her representation and is ready to competently and zealously represent her clients.
